Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder had an impressive season with Sporting last year and he is currently away on international duty with Portugal.
According to Record, the London club have contacted Sporting regarding a summer transfer and the likes of Everton, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are keen on the player as well.
The Londoners already have a quality defensive midfielder in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and it would be surprising if they splashed out on the 25-year-old this summer.
There are other pressing concerns for the Premier League side and they must look to improve their defence on a priority basis.
The Tottenham midfield is already lacking in creativity and goals and the arrival of Palhinha will do nothing to solve that problem.
A midfield trio of Hojbjerg, Palhinha and Ndombele might be defensively secure but it is desperately lacking in creativity and goals.
The Portuguese international would be better suited to a side like Everton. The Toffees could use a quality defensive midfielder alongside Allan. The Brazilian is 30 and he will need replacing soon.
Palhinha could be a superb long-term signing for Everton.
The chance to move to the Premier League would be tempting for the 25-year-old and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.
