The North Londoners were below par last season, finishing outside of the top-six and are planning to make quality additions to their squad in the coming weeks.
Spurs are currently without a manager, but it seems it has not stopped them from identifying transfer targets.
Managing director Fabio Paratici has a keen eye for talents and Hermoso may have caught his attention.
The 26-year-old featured in 37 games across all competitions for Atletico last season, playing at both left-back and centre-back.
Hermoso played a huge role as Diego Simeone’s side pipped Real Madrid and Barcelona to the La Liga title, scoring twice and assisting once.
Tottenham currently have Sergio Reguilon and Ben Davies at left-back, with Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga options at centre-back.
They could do with upgrades in both positions, though, and Hermoso could be the perfect man for the job.
However, whether the Spain international will be looking to leave Atletico anytime soon is a huge doubt.
He is a regular starter looking forward to a title defence and Champions League football next season, and moving to Spurs who are without silverware since 2008 and playing Europa Conference League next season is not particularly exciting.
Is it?
