Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United are keen on signing the Burnley defender James Tarkowski this summer.

The 28-year-old has been one of the most reliable centre backs in the Premier League over the last few years and he could prove to be a quality addition to David Moyes’ back four.

According to The Telegraph, the defender has just one year left on his deal at Burnley and the Clarets could be under pressure to cash in on him this summer. They will not want to lose a key player for free next year.

West Ham will be hoping to snap up the defender on a bargain this summer and it remains to be seen whether they can fend off the competition from Wolves.

SL View: Tarkowski could transform West Ham’s defence

The Hammers will have to improve defensively if they want to do well in Europe as well as the Premier League next season. Tarkowski could be a superb addition alongside Issa Diop or Angelo Ogbonna.

Apart from his defensive quality, he would bring leadership qualities to the dressing room as well.

The Molineux outfit could use a quality centre back like Tarkowski as well. However, the Hammers will probably be a more attractive option for the 28-year-old given the fact that they will be able to offer him European football.

Furthermore, West Ham are a better team with more ambition and stability right now.
