West Ham United and Leeds United are reportedly monitoring the Sampdoria centre half Omar Colley this summer according to a report from Corriere Dello Sport.

The 28-year-old defender has been linked with Leeds in the past but the Whites never really came forward with an offer for him.

Colley has had an impressive season with Sampdoria and he is one of their key players.

It is believed that the Italian outfit could cash in on the player this summer because of financial reasons.

SL View: Much-needed addition for both clubs

Colley has the physical attributes to succeed in English football and he has proven his defensive pedigree in the Serie A as well.

Leeds could definitely use some defensive reinforcements this summer and Colley would be a superb signing for them. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his career right now and he could make an immediate impact.

The Whites conceded 54 goals in 38 league games this past season and improving the back four should be a top priority for Marcelo Bielsa this summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham need to bring in a quality defender as well.

Colley could partner Issa Diop at the back next season. He could prove to be an upgrade on Craig Dawson, who was quite error-prone towards the end of last season.

The Hammers can provide the player with Europa League football as well and it could give them an edge in the transfer chase.

A move to the Premier League would be the ideal step up for the player as well. He has proven himself in Italy and he might feel that the time is right for a new challenge.
