Report suggests 28-yr-old Premier League ace is keen on a move to West Ham – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United more linked with a move for the Burnley defender James Tarkowski earlier this month.
Football Insider are now reporting that the 28-year-old centre back is very keen on a move to the London club.
The 28-year-old was apparently a target for the Hammers last summer as well but the Londoners failed to agree or a fee with the Clarets.
Tarkowski has a contract at Turf Moor until the summer of 2022 and Burnley will be under pressure to cash in on him now.
They cannot afford to lose a key player like him on a free transfer next year and West Ham will certainly have an edge in the transfer cheese this time around.
SL View: Tarkowski could transform the West Ham back four
The Hammers could definitely use some defensive reinforcements and Tarkowski would be a massive upgrade on the likes of Craig Dawson.
David Moyes needs to add more quality and depth to his side in order to compete in the Europa League as well as the Premier League next year.
Signings like Tarkowski could prove to be smart additions for the Hammers. The 28-year-old is well settled in the Premier League and he should be able to make an immediate impact if he moves to the London club.
Apart from his defensive qualities, Tarkowski’s leadership could also prove to be vital for the Londoners.
Apparently, Burnley are already looking at potential replacements for Tarkowski and they have identified the Stoke City player Nathan Collins as a potential target.
West Ham will be hoping to agree on a reasonable fee for the 28-year-old defender in the coming weeks and his contract situation certainly rules out a premium asking price.
