Championship club Swansea City have won the race to sign Kyle Joseph from Wigan Athletic, according to Journalist Peter O’Rourke.
The 19-year-old’s contract with the League One club comes to an end this month and there is no doubt that he will now be looking to take his career to the next level and move above the third-tier of English football.
The Scotland U-21 international scored five goals last season from 14 League One appearances for the Latics to help them avoid relegation to the third-tier of English football.
In only his first season of professional football, Joseph proved that he is more than good enough to excel in League One and there is no doubt that he will be able to adapt to the Championship with a bit of nurturing.
After finishing fourth in the Championship last season and eventually losing the promotion playoff final to Brentford last season, Swansea will be looking to bounce back and aim for automatic promotion to the Premier League next season.
While Joseph may not exactly be ready for regular first-team action, he could be a good squad rotation player and impact substitute. If the club develops him properly, he could develop into a pure first-team regular and a good long-term investment.
Meanwhile, another attacking player that Swansea have been linked with is Midtylland’s Sory Kaba. Kaba scored 11 goals from 27 Danish Superliga appearances last season.
The Guinea international started his professional career in 2014 and has previously played for Alcobendas, Elche and Dijon before moving to Midtylland in 2019.
