“Nothing makes sense anymore” – Barcelona fans react as popular figure is sacked – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Barcelona fans were left shocked after the club parted ways with B team coach Javier Garcia Pimienta, as reported by Mundo Deportivo’s Ferran Martinez.
The news has come as a blow to fans as Pimienta attracted praise for the work that he did at the helm of the Blaugrana developmental side over the past three years as he helped to nurture the talent of highly-rated youth products such as Alex Collado, Ronald Araujo and Riqui Puig.
Under Pimienta, the Blaugrana B team made it to the Segunda Division B promotion playoffs before a penalty shoot-out defeat against UCAM Murcia.
Pimienta’s impressive leadership of the youngsters even led to him being touted as an outside candidate to potentially succeed Ronald Koeman as coach of the club’s first team.
This development is one of a number of structural changes that the La Liga giants are set to make as they look to rebuild as a club and brand following several years of underachievement both in Europe and domestically.
Should the club underachieve next season, there is little doubt that this will be one of the decisions that will be questioned as Pimienta was a figure who was actually loved by fans.
Meanwhile, the Blaugrana are set to undergo a number of first-team changes this summer. They will be expected to reinforce their ageing backline and one player who has been linked with the club is Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte.
The 27-year-old will be popular at Camp Nou especially after recently committing his international future to Spain despite being born in France.
Heavily against this decision. Laporta should remember what Pimienta has done, was there even during his first tenure as president.
I understand he wants to “move on” and not look back, but this is not the right way. Wonder who’s coming in, assuming Sergi Mila takes over. https://t.co/Xz5RCjymHZ— Juan (@__ElJdP) June 11, 2021
No way have they gone and sacked Garcia Pimienta. A man who has been at this club for over 14 years and has nurtured most La Masia talents, including Messi. Terrible decision by the board, shocking to be honest.

Garcia Pimienta getting sacked while keeping Koeman for the first team is a big L from Laporta istg. The only thing that’ll make up for that is if Xavi becomes Barca B coach

Nothing makes sense anymore.
La Masía’s methodology, and therefore the coaches that carry it, is the thing that needed least changing. García Pimienta is a huge Barça asset.

When I said earlier that this board isn’t a fan of Pimienta, I wad said every news from SPORT is total waste and not to believe it.
Guess, I was right to believe it. First Franc Artiga and now Garcia Pimienta. We are going backwards. https://t.co/douDRgKAPP
