Report: Leicester want in-demand £20m winger, could face competition from West Ham – originally posted on Sportslens.com
According to reports from Voetbalzone, Leicester City are considering making a move for Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma during the upcoming transfer window.
The report claims that the Foxes are likely to face competition from the likes of Wolfsburg and Lyon to sign the 24-year-old winger.
Danjuma was sensational for the Cherries last season, managing 17 goals and providing eight assists in 37 appearances for the club.
He scored both of the Cherries’ goals in the play-offs against winners Brentford, but couldn’t help his side getting promoted.
Bournemouth signed him for £13.5m in 2019, and they are expected to demand at least £20million for him.
West Ham and Southampton are also reportedly keen to secure his signature. Brighton, Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Lille are also in the hunt, according to reports from TEAMtalk.
SL View – West Ham must act quickly
With Bournemouth staying in the Championship for another year, Danjuma may not be willing to stick around, especially when several clubs are vying for his signature.
A move abroad could be tempting for him as well, especially at Lyon, where he will get a taste of European football.
He was one of the stand out performers in the Championship last season, and the Hammers should move quickly for him ahead of Leicester.
West Ham enjoyed a superb 2020-21 campaign where they finished sixth in the Premier League table. The Hammers board must back David Moyes with funds in the transfer window, and Danjuma would be a quality addition for them.
