West Ham keen on 28-yr-old with 34 goal contributions, star will cost just €30m – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing the Dutch international Wout Weghorst this summer.
The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were heavily linked with the 28-year-old last summer but he ended up staying in Germany.
The Athletic are now reporting that the player could be allowed to leave for a fee of around €30 million this summer.
West Ham could definitely use a specialist goalscorer and Weghorst would be the ideal addition for them. He would be an upgrade on Michail Antonio and the target man seems like an ideal fit for David Moyes’ playing style as well.
The 28-year-old has scored 25 goals and picked up 9 assists in all competitions for Wolfsburg this past season.
The reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his calibre in today’s market. West Ham certainly have the resources to pay that kind of money for Weghorst and it will be interesting to see if the Hammers follow up on their interest with a concrete offer for the striker in the coming weeks.
The Londoners are yet to invest the proceeds from Sebastien Haller’s sale.
A move to the Premier League would be a step up in Weghorst’s career as well and he could be tempted to join the Londoners this summer.
West Ham can offer him regular game time in the Premier League and the Hammers have Europa League football to offer as well.
The Hammers must sign a top-class goalscorer if they want to progress as a side and Weghorst would be a superb acquisition for them.
