Report: Arsenal eye move for £20m int’l…he prefers a move to PL rival instead – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Arsenal are reportedly interested in England full-back Kieran Trippier.
According to reports from Spanish media outlet, Marca, Arsenal are interested in signing Trippier in a deal that could see Hector Bellerin moving the other way.
Trippier, who won the La Liga title with Atletico last season, is considering a return to the Premier League.
The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back has even begun house-hunting ahead of a potential return to England.
Bellerin has been one of the key players for the Gunners in the past few seasons. However, he is among the group of senior players who could leave the club this summer, with Mikel Arteta ready to make necessary changes to his squad.
It has been claimed that the former Barcelona youngster is keen to return to Spain. The 26-year-old is admired by Atletico sporting director Andrea Berta, and the Gunners sense a window of opportunity here.
Arsenal are likely to face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United to sign the 30-year-old defender.
According to reports from the Mirror, United are interested to sign the former Spurs right-back as they look to provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Red Devils believe that an offer between £15million and £20m will be enough to convince Atletico to sell Trippier.
In fact, Trippier has told his England teammates that he wants to move to Old Trafford in the summer. Unless Arsenal come up with a tempting offer, it’s really hard to see Trippier joining a club that finished eighth in the Premier League last season.
