Everton keen on signing €20m-rated La Liga ace, but face competition from Man Utd – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Everton have been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier.
The England international has had an impressive season with the Spanish outfit and he helped them win the Spanish league title.
According to Spanish publication AS, Manchester United are keen on signing the 30-year-old defender as well and it will be interesting to see if the two Premier League clubs can convince Atletico to part with the defender.
The report claims that Atletico Madrid are keen on holding on to the former Tottenham defender who has a contract with the Spanish club until the summer of 2022.
There is an option to extend his contract for another season and the player is thought to be valued at around €20 million.
Everton could certainly use a right-back and Trippier could prove to be a quality short term addition. The 30-year-old is at the peak of his career right now and he could be the ideal replacement for Seamus Coleman next season.
Meanwhile, Manchester United could use some depth in the position as well and trippier would be a super backup option to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
It will be interesting to see where the 30-year-old ends up this summer. He’s a key player for Diego Simeone and the Spanish outfit are under no pressure to sell him.
Trippier has played in the Premier League before and he could make an immediate impact if he joins the likes of Everton or Manchester United this summer.
