Leicester City are keen on signing €35m-rated ace from the Bundesliga – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leicester City are interested in signing the Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.
According to SportBild (via Sportwitness), the German club could look to sell the defender this summer.
The 25-year-old is highly rated in the Bundesliga and he could prove to be a quality long term signing for the Foxes.
Brendan Rodgers has quality young defenders like Caglar Soyuncu and Wesley Fofana at his disposal but he needs to find a long term alternative for the likes of Jonny Evans and Tah would be a superb addition.
Apparently, the 25-year-old centre back has a release clause of around €35 million and it remains to be seen if the Premier League outfit are willing to trigger that in the coming weeks.
The Foxes need to add more depth and quality to their site in order to qualify for Champions League football next season and signings like Tah would be shrewd acquisitions.
The reported release clause seems quite expensive for a player whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and it remains to be seen whether Leicester can negotiate a lower price for the defender.
Tah is yet to reach his peak as a defender and he is likely to improve further. He has the potential to justify his price tag in future.
A move to the Premier League could be tempting for the German defender and playing under Rodgers could help him develop further. The Leicester manager has done well to develop several young players like Harvey Barnes, Caglar Soyuncu, Wesley Fofana and James Justin in recent seasons.
