Leeds initiate contact with 26-yr-old’s representatives regarding summer transfer – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United are interested in signing the Huesca left-back Javi Galan this summer.
The Whites have been linked with the Brest defender Romain Perraud in recent weeks but the defender’s asking price of around £15-18 million have put them off.
It appears that the Premier League side are now looking at a cheaper alternative and they have identified Galan as a target.
Ezgjan Alioski is set to leave the club when his contract expires this summer and Leeds will need to bring in a quality left-back before the start of the season.
Galan has done well for Huesca this past season and he could prove to be a handy addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s defence.
The 26-year-old defender has a release clause of £3.5 million and his signing could prove to be a bargain for the Whites if he manages to adapt to English football. Galan has a contract with the Spanish club until the summer of 2022 and it is understandable why his release clause is so low.
Huesca will be hoping to sell him this summer instead of losing him on a free transfer next year.
As per Football Insider, the club have already approached the defender’s representatives to discuss a summer transfer.
SL View: Galan’s attacking quality could be useful for Leeds
The 26-year-old is a capable defender and he is quite impressive going forward as well. Only Lionel Messi has completed more dribbles than Galan in the La Liga this past season.
The defender has one goal and two assists to his name in La Liga this season.
His arrival will add a new dimension to the Leeds attack. The 26-year-old can operate as a wing-back and a winger as well and his versatility will be an added bonus for Bielsa and his side.
