West Ham United have been linked with a move for the Norwegian midfielder Morten Thorsby.

The 25-year-old has done well for Sampdoria this past season and the London club are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the midfielder has been scouted several times by the intermediaries of the Premier League side this past season and it will be interesting to see if West Ham come forward with a concrete offer in the coming weeks.

SL View: A different type of midfielder for the Hammers

The Londoners could definitely use some depth in the central midfield and Thorsby would be a quality addition for them.

The 25-year-old central midfielder could be the long term replacement for Mark Noble and he will add creativity and balance to David Moyes’ midfield alongside Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

Currently, the Hammers are missing a playmaker in the middle and Thorsby will help them retain the ball and recycle possession if he joins the club.

The midfielder has three goals and an assist to his name in the Italian league this past season and he has two years left on his contract with the Italian club.

Ideally, the Norwegian should be available for a reasonable price and the fact that Sampdoria signed him on a free transfer from the Dutch league could also mean that their asking price could be affordable for the Hammers.
