Leeds set to face competition from Euro giants for €36 million-rated target – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Cagliari ace Nahitan Nandez and Calciomercato are reporting that Inter Milan have now joined the race for the 25-year-old midfielder.
According to reports, the midfielder has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2024 and he has a release clause for around €36 million.
However, his suitors will not have to pay not much in order to sign him this summer and Cagliari are willing to listen to offers and negotiate because of their financial situation.
The Italian outfit have struggled financially due to the coronavirus pandemic and they are open to sales in order to balance their books. Nandez could be sold for a knockdown price this summer and Leeds must make the most of this opportunity.
It will be interesting to see if Leeds can fend off the competition from Inter Milan and secure the 25-year-old Uruguayan international’s services this summer.
SL View: Nandez seems a good fit for Bielsa’s style
There is no doubt that they could use more depth in central midfield and the South American midfielder should be a good fit in theory.
The hard-working 25 year old will help the side defensively. He’s an excellent presser as well and his arrival will add more aggression and intensity to the Leeds midfield.
A move to Elland Road would be a step up in the midfielder’s career as well and the opportunity to work with someone like Bielsa could be tempting for him.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
