West Ham star nominated for player of the season award, shares his three-word reaction – originally posted on Sportslens.com
West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has been nominated for the player of the season award.
The 26-year-old Czech Republic international has been outstanding for the Hammers and he has managed to score 10 goals in the Premier League this past season.
Apart from his goalscoring exploits, Soucek has helped the side defensively as well and he has formed a reliable partnership with Declan Rice at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield.
Soucek is one of the main reasons why West Ham will be playing European football next season and it is hardly surprising that he has been nominated for the prestigious award.
The likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane Mason Mount and Mohamed Salah have also been nominated for the award and it will be interesting to see if the West Ham star can fend off the competition and secure the accolade in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old midfielder was signed permanently at the start of the season after an impressive loan spell and he has proven to be one of the best West Ham signings in recent years.
It will be interesting to see if he can build on his performances this year and improve next season.
The West Ham fan favourite has taken to Twitter to share his reaction to the nomination and the fans responded with messages saying that the recognition is thoroughly deserved.
Soucek tweeted:
