Daniel Levy

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to appoint a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho and they have been linked with several names in recent months.

According to a report from Football Insider, club chairman Daniel Levy is now looking to appoint someone who would be a low maintenance option and there would be cheap or zero compensation involved.

The Londoners have been linked with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte in the last few days.

Apparently, Pochettino is unhappy with the situation at Paris Saint-Germain and a potential return has been discussed.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte left his position as the manager of Inter Milan after guiding them to a league title after 11 years and the former Chelsea manager is available this summer.

Spurs need to bring in a top-class manager who can help them end their trophy drought and convince the top players to stay at the club beyond this summer.

The likes of Harry Kane are thought to be angling for a move away from the London club and an appointment like Conte would certainly force the England international to consider staying at the club.

SL View: Spurs cannot afford to take any risks

Tottenham have already fallen behind the likes of Leicester City in terms of development and the managerial appointment this summer will be crucial.

Levy must look to bring in a proven winner and send out a statement to Spurs’ rivals. The choice of manager will indicate Tottenham’s ambitions as a club and the Londoners cannot afford to take any gambles.
