Celtic make enquiry for 24-yr-old, part exchange deal a possibility involving PL club – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Celtic are interested in signing the Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman this summer.
The Hoops need to bring in a quality number one and Woodman could prove to be a useful addition.
The 24-year-old is behind the likes of Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow in the pecking order at the Premier League club and he needs to leave in order to play regular first-team football.
A move to Scotland would be ideal for his career as well and it will be interesting to see if the two clubs can work out a deal that benefits them both.
As per Football Insider, the magpies would prefer to loan Woodman out instead of selling him permanently and it remains to be seen whether Celtic are prepared to accept a short-term move.
Newcastle United are thought to be interested in signing the Norwegian defender Kristoffer Ajer from Celtic and according to Football Insider, a part exchange deal is a possibility.
SL View: Ajer would be a superb fit for Newcastle
The 23-year-old Celtic defender is rated highly across Europe and he has a big future ahead of him.
A move to Newcastle could help him play at a higher level alongside better players and Ajer is keen on leaving the Scottish club this summer.
It is no secret that Steve Bruce needs to improve his defensive options this summer and Ajer would be a quality addition for the right price. The defender has one year left on his deal at Parkhead and he is unlikely to cost a lot.
