The Athletic’s mailbag today has answered a brilliant question on Moise Kean’s future at Everton.

For those who don’t have a subscription to The Athletic, I will make it easy for you. Here’s the answer from Patrick Boyland on Kean. He writes:

Always a chance — no matter how small — as this is football and Kean is still contracted to Everton. But he was happy at Paris Saint-Germain and Ancelotti has gone on the record as saying he will not keep players who want to leave. After a productive season in which he has further enhanced his reputation, Kean is a rare and precious commodity at Goodison: a fringe player who should command a sizable fee. That could be important this summer.

“My understanding is that even if PSG’s manager Mauricio Pochettino left, it would not shift the dial too much. Kean was recruited by their sporting director Leonardo, who had tracked the player for some time. Interestingly, the Brazilian’s own future is the subject of speculation. That’s the one I’d keep an eye on when it comes to Kean’s future.

Kean joined Everton from Juventus for a reported fee of €27.5m, signing a five-year contract with the Merseyside club.

Following a not-so-eventful first-season at Goodison Park, he was sent on loan to Paris Saint-Germain last summer. The 21-year-old scored 17 goals in all competitions last season, and needless to say, PSG are heavily impressed.

Kean wants to continue in France and hence a move away from Everton on a permanent deal looks likely. He has a contract at Everton, but Carlo Ancelotti is prepared to let him go.

According to reports from Tutto Mercato Web, Everton are demanding a fee in the region of €40m (£34m) to sell the striker permanently.

The report claims that the ‘negotiations between the two clubs are underway to reach an agreement. Kean has already decided that he wants to play for PSG, and it is up to the clubs to settle the transfer fee.

Kean is a promising young striker who wasn’t given proper chances at Everton. At least, the Toffees are trying their best to get the maximum deal out of his sale.
