Liverpool have completed their first signing of the summer today after the club confirmed the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig

Bolstering the defence was a priority for Jurgen Klopp, and the Reds wasted no time in securing the signature of arguably one of the best young talents in world football.

The Reds are planning to offload some of their fringe players this summer, with as many as nine players likely to depart.

According to reports from The Athletic, Liverpool could offload the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Origi, who etched his name among Liverpool’s cult heroes, struggled for regular games last season. The Belgian international needs to pursue new challenges, and a move away from Anfield looks likely. He is valued at around £20 million.

Likewise, Shaqiri has played bit-part roles last season, and the Swiss international could leave, with Turkish club Fenerbahce reportedly keen.

Sporting director Michael Edwards has a reputation for negotiating bumper fees for fringe players, but it will be difficult for the Reds to replicate such feats this summer due to the impact of the pandemic.

Liverpool will listen to offers for Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson, following their loan spells at Porto and Cardiff City respectively. The club value each of them at around £15m.

The report adds that the likes of Loris Karius, Sheyi Ojo, Ben Woodburn, Liam Millar and Taiwo Awoniyi could also be sold.

In addition, Liverpool could make a decision on Takumi Minamino, who impressed during his loan spell at Southampton, although Klopp did say earlier this year that he is a part of a long-term project at the club.
