Report suggests Aston Villa are keen on 25-yr-old who will cost around £5m this summer – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Aston Villa have been linked with a move for the Reims defender Ghislain Konan.
According to Daily Mail, the defender could be available for a fee of around £5 million and Villa are monitoring the 25-year-old along with Southampton.
Konan has been a key player for Reims this season and Villa could certainly use a quality left-back like him.
Matt Targett has done a quality job for Dean Smith so far but Villa are lacking in depth in that position.
It will be interesting to see if they can fend off the competition and secure the 25-year-old’s services in the summer.
Konan has two goals and an assist to his name this season and he has the physical attributes to succeed in English football as well.
The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his ability.
Southampton are apparently looking at him as a potential replacement for Ryan Bertrand.
Villa probably have a more exciting project at their disposal and Konan could be tempted to move to Villa Park if Dean Smith’s side come calling with a concrete offer.
A move to the Premier League would be the ideal step-up in Konan’s career right now and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Smith has put together an impressive defensive unit at Villa this season and the West Midlands outfit have managed to keep 15 clean sheets so far. Konan is likely to add to their defensive quality and improve them next season.
