It was a great weekend for PSG in Ligue 1; seeing Lille draw on Friday night, they managed to cut the gap on the league leaders to just one point.

Lille could only muster up a 1-1 draw against Montpellier on Friday night and so put the chance into the hands of PSG to try and cut the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

It was touch and go in the game though and PSG nearly fell short and came close to getting only one point, but determination shone through and they managed to come through the game by just about beating St Etienne 3-2 thanks to a Mauro Icardi 95th minute winner.

They fell behind to a Denis Bouanga 78th minute strike, but it took them only one minute to equalise through Kylian Mbappe, and he got his second eight minutes later via a penalty to put his team 2-1 up in the game.

It looked as though St Etienne would be on the end of a defeat yet five minutes later and 92 minutes into stoppage time, Romain Hamouma equalised. But their joy was to be short-lived after Icardi pounced on a Di Maria cross to head into the back of the net for 3-2 in the 95th minute.

After failing to score in the first 77 minutes, five goals in 17 minutes saw PSG run out as 3-2 winners to take away all three points, to pile even more pressure on first-placed Lille.

It will be an interesting run-up to the end of the season, especially as PSG are still heavily involved in the Champions League semi-finals and looking to win the Champions League after having lost in the final last season.

So, will they put more attention into the Ligue 1 title race or when it comes down to it will they focus on the Champions League to try and get that much-awaited title, only time will tell, either way, it will be an interesting end to an already unpredictable season.
