‘That information is not real’ – Marcelo Bielsa rubbishes rumours regarding his Leeds future – originally posted on Sportslens.com
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has rubbished rumours of a new deal at Elland Road.
Recent reports claimed that the Leeds boss is close to signing a two-year contract with the Premier League club that would keep him at Elland Road until the summer of 2023.
However, Bielsa has revealed during his press conference yesterday that the information is not real.
“That information is not real,” Bielsa told reporters (via Goal). “I ignore the origin.
“Those things, either the club can say or I can say it, we are the ones who possess the information.
“In all cases, if there was any information to give, then I would give it.”
The Argentine manager has done a stellar job at Leeds since taking over and the Whites have been quite impressive in the Premier League since their promotion.
The fans will certainly be hoping that Bielsa can stay as long as possible and it will be interesting to see if Leeds can agree on a new deal with him in the coming weeks.
The 65-year-old manager has revealed but he will share an update on his future when a concrete decision is made between him and the club.
The Argentine is clearly the right man to take the club forward and Leeds must give him the proper backing during the summer transfer window. The Whites need to strengthen a few positions if they are to climb up the table next season.
If Leeds can sort out their defensive problems this summer, they could challenge for Europa League qualification next year. The Whites have been impressive going forward this year but their defensive problems have cost them valuable points throughout the season.
Furthermore, Bielsa could use a clinical goalscorer as well. The signing of Rodrigo has not worked out as expected and Bamford has missed a high volume of chances despite putting up decent numbers in terms of goals and assists.
