Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Napoli forward Dries Mertens.
Apparently, the Italian club are willing to get rid of the experienced Belgian this summer and the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs are keeping tabs on his situation.
According to Voetbal24, Napoli are looking to free up some funds by getting rid of Mertens.
It will be interesting to see if Spurs can convince the experienced attacker to move to the Premier League this summer.
With the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal interested in him as well, Napoli will be hoping for a bidding war.
Apparently, the player is not keen on an exit and he is happy in Naples. The player is thought to be satisfied at the Italian club and he would be open to seeing out the rest of his contract at Napoli.
However his future is not in his hands anymore and if Napoli want to get rid of him, he is likely to move on eventually.
SL View: Quality short term addition for a reasonable price
Jose Mourinho could definitely use more depth in his attacking department and the Belgian can play anywhere across the front three. Mertens would add pace, flair and goals to the Tottenham attack and he could prove to be quality short term addition for the right price.
Mertens has established himself as one of the best attackers in the Italian league over the last few years and he has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well.
Despite being 33, he has a lot to offer at the highest level. The Belgian has scored 13 goals in his eight seasons with the Italian club and he is undoubtedly one of the best players in the club’s history.
The 96-cap Belgian international has 9 goals and 8 assists to his name so far this season.
