A total of six teams will be featuring in European competitions this season. Ligue 1’s reps in the Champions League will be defending champs Lille, plus PSG and Monaco, who finished in second and third respectively. The Europa League will have both Olympique sides – Lyon and Marseille, while Rennes will be representing France in the first ever edition of the Europa Conference League.
Which teams will play in the 2021/22 installment of Ligue 1?
Ligue 1 will eventually be reduced to 18 teams during the 2023/24 season, but for now, 20 teams will still compete in the top flight. Again, two newly promoted sides will feature: they are Clermont, who are in Ligue 1 for the first time in club history, plus Troyes. The 16 other sides are: Angers, Bordeaux, Brest, Lens, Lille, Lorient, Lyon, Marseille, Metz, Monaco, Montpellier, Nantes, Nice, PSG, Reims, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Strasbourg.
